Criminal Mischief is a Disorderly Person’s Offense if the damage to property was valued at less than $500. That means that a conviction can result in up to 30 days jail, a fine of up to $500, restitution for the price of the damage, probation and/or community service.
If the Criminal Mischief damage was valued between $500 and $1,999 it is afourth degree charge which could result in up to 18 months in prison.
If the Criminal Mischief damage was valued at more than $2,000 it is a third degree charge which could result in up to 5 years in prison.
